Formative assessment: Improving learning for every child

This publication highlights 14 innovations that support teaching and learning through formative assessment, which refers to a variety of methods that teachers use in classrooms to conduct in-process evaluations of pupil comprehension, learning needs and academic progress.

For this Spotlight Report, HundrED and the Jacobs Foundation identified 14 effective school practices on formative assessment across 12 countries around the globe. They include using educational technology in various contexts, focusing on classroom practices, and showing the importance of teacher training. The examples shed light on empirical evidence for how individualised learning and adaptive teaching can be implemented in schools.
