In this interactive webinar, the nature of cyberbullying issues among youth will be discussed, alongside strategies for identifying and dealing with these issues. In addition, the importance of Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) to empower learners and educators to develop a mutual understanding of cyberbullying will be explored. Useful resources for teaching about cyberbullying and sources of help/support will also be highlighted.

About the speakers

Gareth Cort

Gareth Cort is an online safety expert. He has been part of the Digital Citizenship Team at European Schoolnet since January 2021 and also provides regular consultancy and services for the UK Safer Internet Centre. Based in the UK, Gareth regularly works in schools and other education settings with youth, parents/carers and educators to build awareness and skills around online safety, positive and healthy use of technology and digital citizenship. He is also involved in initiatives at both national and European level, creating and developing educational materials for use by educators and youth. These include ProjectEVOLVE (SWGfL/UK Safer Internet Centre), Media Literacy Case for Educators (MLCE): empowering educators to lead media literacy initiatives in Europe (EUN) and the KID_ACTIONS cyberbullying project (EUN).
Gareth is a qualified primary school teacher and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Surrey, UK.
