WE CELEBRATE Earth Day 2023

LETTER IN NATURE

Art in nature is a beautiful activity that encourages creativity and fine motor skills in children of different ages and abilities. You only need a little imagination and natural materials to create pictures, shapes and patterns, letters, numbers and words.

Students of an assistant carpenter and assistant tailor, with their Croatian language and literature teacher Ivana Lukač Vuković, accepted this challenge and celebrated Earth Day in their own way in the Croatian language class. They connected it with the eTwinning project Old Slavic Letters, New European Namas.

In the school garden, they made motifs of Cyrillic letters using twigs, flowers, leaves, stones and other natural materials. They enjoyed a sunny day in nature and learned something along the way.

OBJECTS IN THE FORM OF LETTERS

School of Industry and Craft Slatina

During the math class and as part of the activity for April of the eTwinning project, students of the 2nd grade of hairdressing made Platonic solids. Platonic solid are polyhedra whose faces are regular, identical polygons, and all angles between the sides are equal. There are five such solids: tetrahedron (4 equilateral triangles), cube (6 squares), octahedron (8 equilateral triangles), dodecahedron (12 regular pentagons) and icosahedron (20 equilateral triangles). The students wrote numbers in Glagolitic on the faces of the bodies.

They will exhibit their works as part of the exhibition of student works for School Day.

LET'S USE GLAGOLITICS TOGETHER! (glagolitic alphabet painting workshop)

As part of activities marking the School Day and C.A.L.L. of the Call for the Books (Literature Fair) activity, a workshop called "Let's use Glagolitics together" was held, in which all students of auxiliary occupations of our School and students of special departments of Eugen Kumičić Elementary School, who arrived accompanied by their teachers Ivana Sabolić and Patricija Karaman, participated.

The workshop was prepared and led by teachers Jasna Varga and Ivana Lukač Vuković, who first introduced the students to the Glagolitic script, one of the oldest Slavic scripts, and also the author's script created by St. Cyril. They also explained the meaning and name of each individual Glagolitic grapheme and that these names have their own message, which says that knowing letters and literacy are the foundation of a good life. After the introductory part, there followed the more interesting, creative part in which the students, inspired by the idea of the importance of literacy, wrote their names, significant dates, year of birth or simply one grapheme of their choice on ceramic cups in Glagolitic script. They decorated the cup with additional desired motifs. They took their cups home as a memory of a nice time together and a new experiential learning.

We and history

s 1

Croatian standard language was not always as it is today. Over the centuries, he experienced changes that were often caused by phenomena in the extra-linguistic reality. The students of Marko Marulić Slatina High School showed interest in this topic.

Croatian Glagolitic texts have attracted many book lovers and students of the Marko Marulić Slatina High School for many centuries with their beauty and script. Verbal literacy of students achieves cognitive, as well as motoric, development of students. After getting to know the history of the Croatian language, where the students expanded their interest in the historical development of the language and their knowledge of the language as one of the characteristics of the Croatian national identity, a presentation was created in which the Bašćanska ploča was shown as one of the most precious Croatian monuments.
