EDINA – Education of International Newly Arrived migrant pupils
The main objective of EDINA is to provide support to municipalities, schools and teachers in the reception and the integration into the school system of newcomer pupils (primary and secondary education).
Project goals are:
- to reduce disparities preventing under or over referral to specialised care, and to propose adequate strategies and activities to help teachers, schools and municipalities to support these children;
- to increase the efficiency of investment in the education of newcomers by supporting the development of management programmes for this group at city level;
- to strengthen education and training paths of school staff to foster the collaboration between schools, municipalities, and researchers nationally and internationally.
The project developed a multimodular programme including training modules for teachers, and the Edina toolkit which provides tools for reception, differentiation, assessment, team work, communication with parents and intercultural competences development (available in English, Dutch, Finnish, Spanish and French).
