General Report on the State of History Teaching in Europe

‘Teaching history, grounding democracy’ is the priority of the Observatory on History Teaching in Europe (OHTE), established by the Council of Europe.
OHTE General Report on the State of History Teaching in Europe report cover

OHTE General reports are longitudinal studies on the state of history teaching in Europe that use a methodology developed by the Observatory’s Scientific Advisory Council (SAC).

The first report provides a current statusof history teaching in the OHTE member states, and consists of a comparative analysis (including background and context), key information per member state and a technical appendix.

Future reports will allow for a longitudinal overview of history education to reveal changes and developments over time.
