Online events in groups: collaboration and learning
During the first semester of 2024, the eTwinning featured groups hosted 11 online events, with a total of 720 participants. These sessions covered a wide range of themes, including:
- early childhood education and care
- rural schools
- sustainability in education
- project-based learning
- e-safety.
Additionally, many sessions focused on our annual theme ‘Wellbeing at school’, such as:
- Wellbeing at school with Virgilio
- W is for wellbeing!
- 9th unconference in the creative classroom ‘Illustrating wellbeing at school presenting my project’.
Featured group moderators have highlighted the impact and importance of these events, which spotlight a variety of topics and enable community members to gather feedback and ideas.
In Gender know how for everyone!, Marie Louise Petersen, a teacher of cross-curricular subjects from Denmark, addressed gender stereotypes by asking members to describe those present in their countries using a Padlet. She shares:
‘When the participants of the webinar shared the gender issues related to education in their countries, it became clear that there is still work to be done in regard to tackling homophobia in school, that gender issues evoke strong feelings among students and the surrounding society.’
Similarly, Daniela Bunea, an English teacher from Romania, emphasises the practical benefits of these sessions, which usually conclude with important calls to action such as the ones in the welcome webinar spring campaign 2024: Micro decisions boosting wellbeing in the classroom:
‘The webinar managed to empower teachers with practical strategies to enhance both their own and their students’ wellbeing, hopefully leading to a more positive, inclusive and effective teaching and learning environment.’
About The three little pigs: A story for everyone, which featured the experience of a teacher working in plurilingual education, moderator Carol Barriuso, an English teacher from Spain, shares:
‘The webinar showed how important it is to use students’ multilingual skills as useful tools for integration and learning, and how making the classroom a welcoming place can turn linguistic variety into a powerful tool for success in school and building communities.’
These sessions offer valuable opportunities for learning and collaborating within the eTwinning community.
