Description

  • "Acting Against Bullying: Empowering Teachers with Mindfulness and Theatre Technique” is a dynamic and interactive course designed to equip teachers with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to effectively address peer bullying through the integration of mindfulness and theatre techniques.
 
  • Through a combination of theory, practical exercises, and collaborative activities, participants will explore the transformative potential of mindfulness-infused theatre in creating inclusive school environments and fostering empathy among students. By the end of the course, teachers will be empowered to utilise innovative approaches to prevent peer bullying, promote well-being, and cultivate a culture of kindness and respect in their classrooms.

Learning objectives

  1. Understanding Peer Bullying: Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of the different forms of peer bullying, its impact on students' well-being, and the importance of proactive intervention strategies.
  2. Mindfulness Principles: Teachers will explore core mindfulness principles and techniques, including breathing exercises, body scans, and mindful listening, and understand how these practices can be applied to support students' emotional regulation and resilience.
  3. Theatre in Education: Participants will examine the role of theatre in education, particularly its potential to address social issues such as peer bullying, and learn how to integrate theatrical elements into classroom activities effectively.
  4. Empathy Building: Teachers will learn strategies for fostering empathy among students and promoting a culture of compassion and understanding, essential components in preventing and addressing peer bullying.
  5. Practical Application: Through hands-on workshops and role-playing exercises, participants will develop practical skills in incorporating mindfulness and theatre techniques into their teaching practice, allowing them to create engaging and impactful learning experiences for their students.
  6. Creating Safe Spaces: Participants will explore strategies for creating safe and supportive learning environments where students feel empowered to speak up against bullying and seek help when needed.
  7. Collaborative Problem-Solving: Teachers will engage in collaborative discussions and problem-solving activities to address common challenges and barriers to preventing peer bullying effectively.
  8. Action Planning: By the end of the course, participants will develop personalized action plans outlining how they will implement the strategies and techniques learned during the training in their classrooms and school communities.

Methodology & assessment

Methodology:

Interactive Workshops: The course employs a hands-on approach, featuring interactive workshops, group discussions, and collaborative activities.
Peer Learning: Participants engage in peer-to-peer learning, benefiting from the diverse backgrounds and experiences of their fellow educators.
Practical Application: The training emphasises the practical application of concepts learned.

Assessment:

Formative Assessment: Continuous assessment methods are employed throughout the course, including quizzes, group presentations, and reflective journals.
Final Project: Participants are required to develop a final project that incorporates the knowledge and skills gained during the course.
Course Evaluation: At the end of the course, participants are asked to complete an evaluation form, offering insights into the effectiveness of the training program.

Certification details

Our courses are in line with the Erasmus+ Quality standards for courses under Key Action 1 (learning mobility of individuals)   Participants are required to attend a minimum of 80% of the course sessions. Additionally, active engagement and participation in group discussions and practical activities are encouraged to enhance the learning experience. Upon the successful completion of the training course, participants will obtain;  
  • Certificate of Attendance: includes the name of the participant and the trainer, the location, the dates, learning hours and competences acquired.
